SES FONTANELLES - The little sources

Ses Fontanelles means "the little springs", they gave the name to the finca and the fertile valley. Here, just a few kilometers beyond Andratx, time seems to stand still.
Since time immemorial, people have settled near vital water sources. And water is so abundant here that some 200 years ago farmers built terraces and buildings and were able to live a simple and modest life here with livestock and agriculture. Most of the buildings we have today date back to that time, but they have been repeatedly modified, expanded and redesigned for contemporary use.
What there is not on Ses Fontanelles are immediate neighbors and cell phone reception. Far and wide only forest and rock and a heavenly silence ... Actually the ideal place to really relax, to find yourself, to let your soul dangle. Life can be so simple!

Various accommodation options

What we are particularly proud of is the unbeatable, typical Mallorcan ambience! With great attention to detail and almost more beautiful than any museum. The rustic charm of the 18th century finca could be completely preserved through extensive renovation work. Typical Mallorcan style elements combine on over 400 sqm of living space with comfortable extras such as free wifi, satellite TV, or modern equipped bathrooms. The furnishings are classic, comfortable and inviting, the soft tones, natural stone walls and fine furniture are emblematic of the Mallorcan way of life par excellence.
From the rooms and the communal terrace you can enjoy a magnificent view of the steep mountain slopes, orchards and animals.
Ses Fontanelles is a place of peace and relaxation, designed with infinite attention to detail and the utmost hospitality. The finca is also an ideal starting point for beautiful mountain walks and therefore optimal for a vacation very close to nature and the origins of Mallorca.
If you do not need 4-star package tourism with buffet and beach shuttle and want to spend a relaxed, uncomplicated vacation on a beautiful old finca in the middle of the Serra de Tramuntana, you will feel at home with us.

The GR 221 long-distance hiking trail

Crossing the entire Tramuntana range from southwest to north, or the other way around, on the Ruta de la pedra en sec (the "Dry Stone Walls Route") is currently growing in popularity. The route, about 130 km long, goes from Port d'Andratx to Pollença along mule tracks supported by walls, along natural stone walls, across terraced fields, mountains and valleys. Each stage is different and each one is a highlight in itself!!!
A big plus of the location of our finca is the connection to the long-distance hiking trail GR 221. In the past, the long first stage from Port Andratx or Sant Elm to Estellencs had neither stopovers nor overnight accommodations along the way, which rather discouraged many hikers to run the tour from the beginning. Since January 2016 we are here! Ses Fontanelles is located pretty much exactly in the middle between Sant Elm and Estellencs and should therefore be very interesting for all long-distance hikers!

Finca for vacationers and individualists - Equipment

The spacious guest house and extensive grounds offer ample space for a vacation with a large group of friends, a special birthday party or an event in front of an impressive backdrop. The house is equipped to accommodate up to 8 people. But hikers looking for a little more comfort can also spend the night here in a beautiful double room.
And inside: friendly welcomes you in the entrance area a covered outdoor terrace with dining area and sofa.
On the first floor, a large common room generously invites you to celebrate, eat or relax.
Enjoy hours of leisure in the adjacent fireplace room, the oldest part of the entire finca.
Mallorcan tile decor and sturdy wood/natural stone furnishings give the fully-equipped shared kitchen on the first floor a special setting for your cooking activities. A dishwasher, refrigerator/freezer, five-burner gas stove and electric oven, as well as coffee maker, toaster, egg boiler & juicer add to the convenience of the kitchen.
Another common room on the second floor meets the modern demands of the finca guests with stereo system and WLAN. Comfortable sofas and a fireplace provide coziness. A patio door leads directly to the sun terrace from here.
An open outdoor kitchen with barbecue offers you the opportunity to relax comfortably on warm summer evenings.
The individually & comfortably furnished double rooms at Ses Fontanelles welcome you with parquet floors and a 19th century country style design, without superfluous luxury.
All rooms have a closet, flat-screen TV and a private bathroom with shower/WC and hairdryer. Free WiFi is available throughout the accommodation.
The spacious grounds also offer many other retreats, such as the small mirador (lookout) with sea views on the sunset side or secluded spots under the large fig trees.

REFUGIO FOR LONG-DISTANCE HIKERS

- Beds with pillows and wool blankets.
- It is recommended to bring a hut sleeping bag/warm sleeping bag, depending on the season.

OUTDOOR AREAS:
- Terraces and garden with fireplace (fire is allowed only from mid-October to mid-April due to forest fire danger).

There are no shopping/restaurants here, no cooking facilities.

GOOD TO KNOW:
The Refugio is located in a cellular hole and has no cellular reception for a wide area. No Wifi!
